5th SOS 5th Special Operations Squadron is part of the 919th SOW, Duke Field, FL. The 5th SOS, which activated in December 1994, flies the MC-130P/N Combat Shadow tanker. They are an associate unit of the 9th SOS at Eglin AFB, FL. They fly clandestine missions into sensitive territory to provide air refueling for special operations aircraft. A secondary wartime mission for the Combat Shadow includes airdrop of small bundles and special operations teams and other special operations tactics. Patch on left donated by Kim Wolfersperger
39th RQ 39th Rescue Squadron is part of the 920th Rescue Group at Patrick AFB, FL.  Formerly designated the 301st Rescue Squadron until the squadron was split, with the HH-60 helicopters retaining the original designation. As the 301st, they were first assigned the HC-130 in 1979 while assigned to Homestead AFB, FL. They relocated to Patrick AFB, FL in 1992 following Hurricane Andrew. They currently have four HC-130N and one HC-130P assigned.

 

53 WRS 53rd Weather Recon Squadron "Hurricane Hunters" part of the 403d Wing at Keesler AFB, MS. They first acquired the WC-130 in 1963. The 53rd flies new WC-130Js. The 53rd WRS was inactivated in June 1991 from the active duty AF and then re-activated in 1993 as a reserve unit handling all of the Weather Recon duties.  Patch on left donated by Robert Sharp

 

95AS 95th Airlift Squadron is part of the 440th AW, General Mitchell IAP, WI. They converted from the C-119 to C-130A in January of 1971 as part of the 933 TAG and the 440th TAW.  In 1975, the 933 TAG was inactivated and the 95th TAS reported directly to the 440th TAW. Conversion to the C-130H started in 1989 and they currently have 12 assigned.  Patch on left donated by Jennifer Haase.
96AS 96th Airlift Squadron is part of the 934th AW at Minneapolis-St Paul IAP, MN. In 1971 they converted from the C-119 to the C-130A under the 934 TAG which reported to the 440 TAW. In 1986 the squadron converted to the C-130E. In 1994, the 934 AG was redesignated as an Airlift Wing. Prior to this, the 934 AG airlift had been subordinate to many different wings over the years to include the 442 TAW, 433 TAW, 302 TAW, and the 403 TAW. They currently operate eight C-130H2.
303 Rescue Sq 303rd Rescue Squadron is part of the 939th Rescue Wing at Portland IAP, OR. In June 1972, they converted from the HC-97 to the HC-130 at March AFB, CA. In 1976, assigned to the 403 ARRW. In April of 1985, they were redesignated a TAS and their 6 HC-130s were transferred to the 304th ARRS. In 1993, the 303rd AS was inactivated.  The 303d was reactivated in April 1997 when a spilt was made from the 304th Rescue Squadron with the 304th retaining the HH-60G. The 303d RSQ currently has 4 HC-130P and one C-130E assigned.
327AS 327th Airlift Squadron is part of the 913th AW at Willow Grove ARS, PA. In 1970, they converted to the C-130A from the C-119 under the 913 TAG/302 TAW. In 1971 the 913 TAG was assigned to the 403 Composite Wing. In 1976 the 913 TAG was transferred to the 459 TAW and also converted to the C-130E. Aug of 1992 the TAG was put under the 403 AW. In 1994 the 913th was designated an Airlift Wing and removed from the 403rd. The 327th has 13 C-130E assigned.
328 AS 328th Airlift Squadron is part of the 914th AW at Niagara Falls IAP, NY. In 1970, converted to the C-130A from the C-119 under the 914th TAG subordinate to the 440th TAW. In 1971, the 914th TAG was assigned to the 403 Composite Wing. In 1976, the 914th TAG was transferred to the 439d TAW and also converted to the C-130E. In Aug of 1992, the TAG was aligned under the 94th AW. 1993 brought a conversion to eight C-130H3. In 1994, the 914th was designated an Airlift Wing and removed from the 94th AW. 339fts.gif (15721 bytes) 339 Flight Test Squadron at Robins AFB, GA. The squadron's C-130 aircrews are the only AF crews qualified to fly 21 variants of the C-130. These crews successfully completed 150 FCFs/ACFs, 144 QT&E missions, and 44 delivery missions. The squadron is actively involved in planning and executing major Test and Evaluation (T&E) programs.
